Here's an interesting exercise to do with your kids: see how many of these famous places you can identify. (This one, my son and I were just talking about the other day, as we work our way through world history. There is also an article with some great pictures in the June 2012 issue of National Geographic). 

There are 26 images altogether, not including one showing a map of the Columbian Exchange. If you need help identifying them, just pop the images into a Google search.

I found this exercise on an AP World History resources site put up by Rocklin High School. Even if you don't have any children taking an AP World History course, there are a lot of useful learning aids such as video podcasts, 45-minute to 90-minute lectures on a number of world history topics. There are 37 of these "episodes." There are a couple of suggested book projects with question prompts for writing an essay. There's also a really cool Quizlet Set to help review all of the world history units.
