Learn To Read: Free Resources

This booklet from Abeka provides a great overview of the steps involved in teaching your child to read. I successfully used the Abeka reading program to teach my four children to read. It is a thorough and easy-to-implement program, which includes teaching lessons, flashcards, decodable books, and game ideas. Even if you prefer to use other materials, such as online games, different readers, or hands-on games, the 6 Steps booklet can guide you in teaching the same concepts.

The wide variety of reading curricula can make it difficult to choose. Visit Cathy Duffy Reviews for a comprehensive list of programs and recommendations.
